Halt of work notice on Musalam Musalam house in Khirbet Um Al-Marajim / Nablus

Violation: Halt of work notice on an under construction house.

Location: Khirbet Um Al-Marajim – Duma village / Nablus governorate.

Date: June 24th 2018.

Perpetrator: The Israeli Occupation civil administration.

Victim: Musallam Musallam.

Description:

June 26th 2018, The Israeli Occupation forces served a halt of work notice to Musalam Musalam(64) who owns a house in Khirbet Um Al-Marajim nearby Duma village southeast Nablus. Reportedly, the targeted house has a total area of 70 m2 , and built of zinc sheets and bricks , and is a home for a family of 10.

Musallam told LRC:

“At about 12:00 pm, I found a halt of work notice left under a stone , the notice targets a house built on my plot in Umm Al-Marajim 1700 m2.

Once I received the notice, I went to Duma village council to prepare a legal file, and object on this arbitrary notice.”

Noteworthy, Duma village council participated in LRC workshops within the Supporting the Palestinian Right to Lands and Housing project with an EU fund , an objection was filed with the help of the Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights center.

Um AL-Marajim:[1]

Um AL-Marajim is located 4km to the east of Duma village; it is founded between two mountains. Administratively, the hamlet follows Duma village despite being relative to Talfit village, south Nablus.

The hamlets populates 420 people on a total land area of 13,000 dunums. Residents of the hamlet mostly depend on the agriculture and livestock as sources of income.

Al-Marajim ,as other hamlets in the southern suburbs of Nablus, is targeted of displacement by the occupation. Most of the simple houses of the hamlet (metal slabs and cement blocks) are notified either of stop-work or demolition.

Duma village:[2]

Duma is a Palestinian village in Nablus Governorate, located southeast of Nablus City. It is bordered by Al Jiftlik and Fasayil (in Jericho Governorate) to the east, Majdal Bani Fadil to the north, Qusra and Jalud to the west, and Al Mughayyir (in Ramallah Governorate) to the south.
