Violation: cutting down 15 perennial olive trees.

Location: Qaryut village / Nablus governorate.

Date: April 12th 2020.

Perpetrators: settlers of “Eli”.

Victims: Farmer Mahmoud Hussain.

Description:

Sunday, April 12th 2020 , settlers carried on cutting 15 perennial olive trees in Qaryut village south Nablus.

Tuesday April 14th 2020, affected citizen Mohammed Hussain (39) who supports a family of (8), went with his family to cultivate their farmland, to find that fanatic settlers cut down 15 ancient olive trees.

Reportedly, the perpetrator used a circular saw, and the attack is quit recently (probably two days ago) because the trees are still green.

Mahmoud Hussain received threats from a colonist known as Koron  , who said that he will cut his olive trees earlier, Koron cut 40 olive trees from Mohammed’s 10 dunums olive grove 4 years ago, and he still harasses him and his family in attempts to take over the plot.

Qaryut is 20 km south of Nablus and 28 km away from Ramallah. It is one of the villages that are totally surrounded by colonies and outposts. The village populates 2321people on a total land area of 8471 dunums, of which 312dunums are the village's built-up area. Qaryut has a total population of 2,560 people until 2017 census.

The Israeli occupation 1332 dunums from Qaryut village for the favor of the following colonies:

Shilo colony: it was built in 1978 on 799 confiscated dunums from Silon lands. Now, the colony has a total built-up area of 1347.

Eli colony: it was built in 1984 on 553 confiscated dunums. Now, the colony has a total built-up area of 3360 dunums.
