Halt of Work notice targets a Cement wall in Battir
Violation: halt of work notice issued against a cement wall.
Location: Al-Khamar – Battir / Bethlehem governorate.
Date: November 24th 2019.
Perpetrators: The Israeli Occupation Civil Administration.
Victims: Murad Abdullah Da’dou’.
Description:
The Israeli occupation civil administration protected by an army patrol raided Battir village and gave Citizen Murad Da’dou’ a halt of work notice on a cement wall (a part of an under construction house) on the pretext of building without licenses.
Safa’a “Murad’s wife” told LRC: “All what we wanted was to build a house for our family, but the occupation won’t let us have a peaceful life”.
Noteworthy, Al-Khamar area is one of many hotspots of Israeli violations in Bethlehem, Israeli settlers are trying to empty the area from its endogenous people and make it a colonial reserve for colonial projects, such as “The greater Jerusalem”.
Murad also told LRC: “Once I started the ravages to put in foundations for the house, the occupation forces came to the location and confiscated the bulldozer, few days later a vehicle from the civil administration showed up and gave us a halt of work notice. I prepared a legal file to defend my right to build a proper house for my family in my land.”
The notice ordered the immediate stoppage of construction work, and set Dec 10th 2019, as the date of the subcommittee session in Beit El military court to decide the fate of the structure.

The village is located 7km to the western side of Bethlehem. It is edged by the occupied lands of 1948 from the north and west, al-Walaja village from the northeast, and Husan village from the south.
Battir has a total population of 4696 people until 2017 and has a total land area of 6681 dunum, 832 of which are built-up area.
Oslo Accords divided the lands of Battir as follows:

- 5214 dunums are classified as area C
