Israel Demolishes tents in Al-Khan Al-Ahmar community - Jerusalem

Violation: Demolishing a house and an agricultural facility.

Location: Al-Khan Al-Ahmar community / Jerusalem.

Date: July 8th 2020.

Perpetrators: The Israeli Occupation Civil Administration.

Victims: Citizen Salim Aj-Jahaleen.

Description:

Wednesday July 8th 2020, The Israeli Occupation authorities demolished a residential tent (72 m2), a fodder warehouse (12 m2) , and a barn (120 m2) belong to Salim Aj-Jahaleen (26) who supports a family of 4 , 2 of which are children.

Reportedly, a massive army force accompanied by a vehicle from the civil administration raided Al-Khan Al-Ahmar Bedouin community about 11:00, and carried on dismantling the tents, under claims of using a state property.

Four days before the demolition, the occupation forces gave “Removing a new building” notice To Salim Aj-Jahaleen, the notice number 1797 gave the owner only 96 hours to object before carrying out the demolition.

While Salim Aj-Jahaleen told LRC:

“We have no place to go , the occupation control all the area, and while they illegally expand Kfar Adumim settlement on our land they prohibit us from building a small tent to sleep in.”

Bedouin Community head Murad Ad-Dahouq told LRC reporter:

“We’ve been living in Al-Khan Al-Ahmar for more than 70 years, without the least of live possibilities such as electricity, water, and basic services, the occupation forces raid the community frequently and carry out demolition operations, they also prohibit setting up new tents and impose a closure on the community.”

Al-Khan Al-Ahmar small community in Al-Helo valley is composed of one extended family “Ad-Dahouq” (composing of several families) which goes back to Aj-Jahaleen clan , originally from Beersheba south Palestine , the family was forcedly depopulated in stages to different parts around the West Bank , Today Ad-Dahouq composes of 415 people in 150 households practicing a Bedouin life style. the occupation is imposing arbitrary measures to uproot the community and provide more space for Ma’ale Adumim settlement cluster to expand.
