Under the guise of developing the City Two hundred facilities in Silwan are to be evicted

 Before Israel Occupied Jerusalem in 1967, precisely in the 50s, when Jerusalem was under the Jordanian rule, the industrial area was established.

The “Industrial Area” includes number of facilities such as Supermarkets, bakeries, vehicle repairing garages, and many others.

Few years ago , the occupation municipality decided to confiscate 13 dunums under the guise of developing the city , this followed an approval for the construction of a new settlement in Karm Al-Mufti neighboring the industrial area.

Few years ago, the occupation municipality announced a final date for evicting the industrial area , December 31st  2020 , is also the date of commencing implementation of developmental plan number 101 – 0465229 , approved in January 6th 2020 . The Israeli Occupation Authorities promote this scheme as a developmental plan that will provide many jobs and construction permits for Israelis for sure; this was followed by issuing eviction notices to Palestinian facilities at the area, under claims of building without licenses, the demolition operation – if implemented-  will destroy 200 facilities.

Published in the Israeli mass media, the occupation municipality in Jerusalem is planning to build Shopping centers, hotels, and many others, and named it Silikon Wadi , which is a clear attempt to Judaize  the city.

The municipality considers the Deputy Municipal Legal officer resolution as a final eviction notice for owners of facilities in the area.

The Arab Chamber of Commerce and industry head Kamal Abedat said: “This resolution aims to alter the historical and cultural features of the village , the owners will lose their sources of income and many people will lose their jobs.”

Owners of the facilities already suffer from the high taxes that are forced on Palestinians who own commercial or industrial facilities at the area.
