Expanding Colonial Outposts in the Jordan Valley / Tubas governorate

2020-09-01

Violation: Expanding outposts.

Location: The northern Jordan Valley / Tubas governorate.

Date: September 1st 2020.

Perpetrator: A group of colonists.

Victims: Palestinians in the surrounding villages.

Description:

On the northern Jordan Valley, a new Judaization scheme has appeared with the aim to take over more Palestinian lands. Eventually, the Jordan Valley will be covered with illegal Israeli outpost that closes off hundreds of dunums.

Recently, Israeli fanatic colonists have been expanding two outposts in the Jordan Valley and carried on cultivating vast areas of agricultural lands around it as part of their imposing de facto policies.

Outpost in Abu Qandoul and Wadi Al-Faw:

The Outpost was illegally constructed up a hill, located 1 km and a half to the south of the illegal colony “Maskiyout” , in areas also known as “Abu Qandoul” and “Wadi Al-Faw” , the outpost was built in 2019 on a land the occupation announced stat property and prohibited its owners from accessing it.

The Outpost in Abu Qandoul

Reportedly, an eyewitness recently stated that a group of colonists set up a metal shack with a total area of (90 m2) , in addition to about 9 residential and agricultural tents , and cultivating vast areas of lands and surrounding it with a siege.

The outpost was illegally built on the summer of 2019, following a group of price tag colonists, opened a dirt road that links bypass Allon to the new outpost and brought water and electricity supply.

The outpost is eating up 35 dunums, and apparently the new scheme will expand the outpost to eat up more of the Jordan valley lands.

Noting that Palestinian Bedouin and Rural communities in Wad Al-Faw are deprived from their basic rights and services such as water, electricity , and roads, they are even banned from building new structures or cultivating the surrounding lands , noting that the outpost is only 150 m away from the community.

New outpost north Al-Faresiya :

Only 50 m away from Bedouins’ citizens in Khirbet Al-Faresiya north the community, an eyewitness saw illegal colonists setting up a gazebo there , after bringing a water reservoir , and imposing control over vast areas of the Khirbet to cultivate them and surround them with a siege.

On the ground, the outpost is a new part of a series of outposts related to Sal’it , the outpost was established in 2019 , and now colonists are trying to expand it , and impose control over 45 new dunums.

Head of Al-Malih village council told LRC the following:

“The Israeli Occupation provokes and allows colonists to construct those outposts , in order to loot the Jordan Valley lands and forcibly displace its people. “

During the last few years, the occupation have been heavily targeting the Jordan valley through land grabs and rapid colonial expansion, leaving Palestinians of the area with one way that is to immigrate.
