Violation: Building a new colonial outpost.

Location: Deir Jarir village / Northwest Ramallah.

Perpetrator: A group of illegal colonists.

Victims: People of Deir Jarir.

Description:

Tuesday, December 22nd 2020 a group of fanatic colonists set up a colonial outpost to the east of Deir Jarir in a location known as “Jabal Ash-Shurfa” , about 5 km to the east of the village.

The Outpost is at the edge of the bypass road which was initially opened to connect A-‘Asour military camp to the nearest bypass road also known as (Road Allon), constructing outpost means closing off vast areas of lands in the village , and prohibit farmer’s access to hundreds of agricultural dunums.

Reportedly, the new outpost consists of three tents, and a sheep shack , and inhabited by a family of colonists under the protection of the occupation forces . The Occupation claims that the targeted lands are state properties. Land owner are refusing this allegation and have ownership papers prove that they own the land.

This area is heavily targeted by Kokhav Hashaher colonists, LRC field researcher documented number of assaults against farmers , including an attack against a plot that belong to Abdul Dayem ‘Ajaj in March 31st , during which 480 grape trees  , 150 almond , 15 olives were sabotaged.

Farmer ‘Ajaj told LRC the following:

The new outpost is built only 100 m away from my land which went under an attack in March 31st. Colonists wherever they go around the West Bank will carry out attacks against farmlands and crops.

About Deir Jarir:[1]

Located 12 km to the northeast of Ramallah city, Deir Jarir is surrounded by Al Mazra’a Ash Sharqiya and Kafr Malik (north), Silwad (west), Kokhav Hashahar colony (east), and At Tayba village (south).

It has a population of 4469 people (according to 2017 population projections). Its total area is 33,332 dunums, 793 of which are built-up area.

The Israeli occupation confiscated 2482 dunums of the village for the benefit of:

Kokhav Hashahar colony that devoured 1358 dunums of the village lands. It was built in 1977 and is inhabited by 1367 colonists.

Bypass roads number 449 and 458 that devoured 1124 dunums

According to Oslo Accords, about 4906 dunums of Deir Jarir land are under Area B (PA is in charge of civil matters with Israel responsible for security) and 28426 dunums are under Area C (Israel maintains full security and administrative control).
