Ravaging lands and Uprooting Trees in Shoyoukh Al-‘Arroub / East Hebron

Violation: Ravaging land and uprooting trees.

Date: January 16th 2023.

Location: Shoyoukh Al-‘Arroub / Hebron governorate.

Perpetrators: The Israeli Occupation Authorities.

Victims: Citizens Issa ‘Ayyad and Ra’afat Uwaidat.

Description:

Monday January 16th 2023 , the Israeli Occupation Authorities carried on ravaging a plot and uprooting trees in Shuyukh Al-Aroub / northeast Hebron.

The Occupation machineries ravaged a plot with a total area of 14 dunums , belongs to citizens from the village , that were planted with olive trees and fruitful almonds .

The targeted lands belong to :

  • Citizen ‘Issa ‘Ayyad : The Occupation authorities ravaged a plot that belongs to ‘Issa  with a total  area of (9 dunums) planted with (50 grapes tree , Olive Tree , 60 Almond trees, that are 12 years old , and used to provide for 35 family members of ‘Ayyad’s familu.
  • Citizen ‘Awni ‘Uwaidat : The Occupation bulldozers ravaged a plot with a total area of 4 dunums planted with almonds (about 100 trees)  aging about 12 years old, that used to benefit 80 members from ‘Uwaidat family.

The Occupation authorities ravaged retaining walls , sieges , barbed wires that surround citizen’s lands , and buried trees found at the location , and farmers had to bear a massive loss.

The Occupation authorities  claim that the targeted lands are state properties , and prohibited use of the land.

The Owners have legal papers to their lands , and they rehabilitated it in 2020 , they also prepared legal files and hired a lawyer to file petitions , but the occupation authorities refused the petitions and carried on with the ravages.

Noteworthy, the targeted lands was rehabilitated in 2010 within “Enhancing Livelihoods of farmers in Palestinian territories” implemented by Land Research Center and funded by Netherlands Representative Office.  

Noteworthy, the occupation authorities opened a bypass road (bypass 60) nearby the ravaged lands , the bypass road also confiscated vast areas of lands in Shuyukh Al-‘Arroub , Al-‘Arroub refugee’s camp , Halhul , and Beit Ummar.
