The Israeli Occupation assaults Palestinian Ministry of Education Schools in Jerusalem
The Israeli Occupation Tax department carried out a campaign against schools belong to the Palestinian ministry of education in Jerusalem, they confiscated computers and printers on the pretext of “Arnona” Tax accumulation.
Members from the Israeli tax department and police raided An-Nethaneia primary school for girls in July 17-2018 in Shu’fat north Jerusalem, they previewed the school’s properties before they confiscated number of computers and printers. , The occupation’ municipality is ordering the school to pay accumulated taxes that reached 5840$.
Sameer Jebril Head of Directorate Education in Jerusalem told LRC observer:
“ The Israeli occupation imposing taxes on Palestinian schools is a discriminatory deed, Israeli schools in Jerusalem do not have to pay taxes. Noteworthy, Palestinian schools in Jerusalem provide free education; they are non-profit organizations”
This is only a part of Israeli campaign against Palestinian educational institutions in Jerusalem, Israeli authorities attack Palestinian curriculum calling it provocative, and attempt to impose new educational curriculum that reflects their vision and changes history, nevertheless, the occupation municipality provides enormous sums of money to impose Israeli curriculum in indigenous Palestinian people’s schools in Jerusalem.
