Perpetrator: settlers of “Yitzhar”.
Victims: 4 famrers.
Description:
Tuesday October 8th 2019, about 1:30 in the afternoon settlers of “Yitzhar” set 70 olive trees on fire , aging more than 50 years in Burin village south Nablus.
Burin village council head Nidal Najjar told LRC the following:
“Tuesday afternoon, eyewitnesses saw tens of settlers from “Yitzhar” in Umm Braiz and At-Tanour locations south the village close to the bypass roads that penetrates Burin, few minutes passed before flames burst in olive trees . settlers ran when they heard the mosque calling for citizens to go to the location and help in stopping the fire , while firefighters couldn’t reach the location, The fire ate up 70 fruitful olive trees.”
Colonization resistance activist Munir Qaddous from Burin village told LRC:
Settlers set fire to olive trees just before the olive harvesting season which caused great financial lost to farmers (about 30 thousand shekels (8700 $) ) , the target trees belong to:
- Ibrahim Ali Eid 30 trees.
- Ali Isma’el Qaddous 15 trees.
- Abdul Nasser ‘Awad 14 trees.
- Ahmad Oudeh 11 trees.
