Description:

Wednesday, February 12th 2020, The Israeli Occupation forces raided Beit T’amir village and served halt of work notice and a final demolition order for citizen ‘Abbas , on the pretext of building without licenses.

Rasheed told LRC the following:

“I established a barracks with a total area of 30 m2; I use it as a residence, and I stay in it during working on my plot.”

Noteworthy, Rasheed and his family own a plot with a total area of 16 dunums , situatedclose to Herodion mount and the old main street that leads to Ein Jidi , historically known as “Qubara street” that links Ein Jidi to Rachel’s tomb .

Rasheed’s uncle told LRC the following:

“We used to take this road to the Dead Sea, but today the Occupation prohibits Palestinians from using this road anymore, it also prohibits Palestinians from building at their lands. The Occupation also carries out rehabilitation works in Jabal Herodion , to impose realities on the ground and take control over this significant historical site , these are only attempts to take over the area for their ongoing colonial projects.”

The notice ordered the immediate stoppage of construction works, and returning the plot to its previous status within 7 days after receiving the notice. Noteworthy, the family contacted legal aid institutions to support it during the legal process.

At the same day the occupation notified a shack belongs to citizen Abbas on the pretext of building without a license, the shack is used for cattle breeding and was set up on an agricultural lans in Beit T’amir.

The notice ordered the immediate stoppage of construction works , and prepared a legal file for objection.

In reality , it is not about licenses , the Israeli occupation is trying to take over Beit T’amir because of its location close to Herodion  mount , which as an important historical feature the Israeli Occupation is trying to loot , the arbitrary occupation also forced several families to seal off its windows with bricks, under claims that they impose danger on illegal colonists , this is accompanied by continuous attacks against At-Tahadi school , which is a basic school that provides education for 40 children who live at the area.

Beit T’amir stays like a thick thorn bush in the israeli occupation throat.
