Violation: The Israeli occupation authorities halt work on a house in Al-Halaqim area / Tuqu’.
Location : Al-Halqaim area - Tuqu’ village / Bethlehem governorate.

Perpetrator: The Israeli occupation civil administration.

Description:
The Israeli occupation forces and a vehicle from the civil administration raided Tuqu’ in Wednesday, and served a halt of work order to Musa La’mour on the pretext of building without licenses.
As it is mentioned in the order , the subcommittee session will be held in August 1st to decide the fate of the structure.
Khaleel La’mor told LRC reporter:
“This house is a home for me and my children where we just want to live in peace, which is one of our basic rights. I inherited this plot from my father and no one has the right to get me and my children out of it.”
Despite the fact that La’mor inherited the plot from his father , the occupation as always ignores Palestinian basic rights, and issue legalizations that serves settlers and settlement expansion. At the time the occupation works hard to provide security for settlers and provide them with all sorts of comfort and entertainment , Palestinians are deprived from their basic rights, and go under arbitrary measurements daily.

Such Israeli measurements contradicts with international conventions and agreements , such as Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights :
Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

5 Km south Bethlehem, Tuqu’ is surrounded by Ash-Shawawra, Za’atara, Khalet Al-Hadad and Jannatah (north), Marah Ma’ala, Al-Ma’asara and Beit Fajar (West), the Dead sea (East), Kissan village (South).
Tuqu’ has a population of 8767 people in 2017 census. The village has a total area of 199,634 dunums, of which 1627 dunums are the town’s built up area , which includes ( Tuqu’, Khirbet Ad-Dear, Al-Mansheyeh, Beit Fajar, Kissan, Al-Menyeh, Al-Holqum, Wadi Mohammad, Khirbet Tuqu’ and Marah Ma’ala.”
The Israeli occupation authorities devoured about 1570 dunums for the following purposes:
“Tquah” settlement was established in 1977 , on 1,033 dunums of Palestinian confiscated lands, inhabited by 1,116 settlers.
“Mushki Dar Got” was established in 1991, and confiscated 93 dunums.
“Nokdim” was established in 1982 , and confiscated 345 dunums, inhabited by 646 people.
Bypass roads 356/3157/3670 devoured more than 99 dunums.
Oslo accords divided the land into C and B areas :
B area: 3,954 dunums.
C area: 195,680 dunums / of which 46,841 dunums are a natural reserve.
