The Occupation Demolished Three Houses of Bricks in Dhera’a ‘Awad area / Tubas Governorate

Violation: Demolition of three houses built of bricks.

Location: Dhera’a ‘Awad area “ Al-Mkassar”.

Date: August 4th 2021.

Perpetrators: The Israeli Occupation Construction Inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration.

Victims: Three families from Abu Al-Kbash Bedouin community.

Description:

Wednesday, August 4th 2021, The Israeli Occupation and building inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration raided Dhera’a ‘Awad area West Furush Beit Dajan , nearby the Al-Humra military roadblock , and a bulldozer carried out a demolition operation that leveled three houses of bricks and zinc belong to Bedouin families , on the pretext of building without a license from the occupation.

The Israeli Occupation imposed full closure on the area, and forced residents to immediately evict their houses, then carried out the demolition leaving 19 persons from As-Salameen Bedouin clan homeless of which (9 females and 9 children).

One of the Victims ‘Adnan As-Salameen told LRC:

“We’ve been living in the area for more than 50 years, and we Depend on Cattle breeding as a main source of income, in 2014 we received halt of work notices for our pergolas and tents, and in 2015 we got a precautionary order from the Israeli Supreme court to freeze the demolition. Noteworthy, in fall 2001 we rehabilitated the pergolas that are built of bricks and zinc, until we were surprised of a sudden demolition without any preceding notices”.

The Bedouin Community in Dhera’a ‘Awad was targeted several times before 1998, Bedouin families managed to get a precautionary order to freeze the demolition, but after the Second Intifada the community was under threats again.

People of the Bedouin community Dhera’a ‘Awad 30 km to the south of Tubas Governorate. After the 1948 war, As-Salameen Bedouin clan forcedly immigrated to As-Samou’ area south Hebron , and later to Dhera’a ‘Awad area searching for postures and water, the community now composes of 14 families from As-Salameen (about 85 people).
