Israeli violations in the time of Corona
Friday May 2020 , citizen ‘Arafat Al-‘Ubaidi from Beit Hanina demolished his own house on the pretext of building without licenses.
‘Arafat Al-‘Ubaidi told LRC the following:
“About a year ago I built a house for my family of 4 , the house had a total area of 80 m2, it is built of bricks and cement , and I arranged it to be suitable for my family.
Israeli policemen gave me an administrative demolition order on the pretext of building without licenses. The occupation’s municipality had already given me two orders in one week , the first one was in April 23rd , and another one was in April 28th.
In case the occupation carried out the demolition I will be forced to pay the demolition fees which may reach thousands of shekels, so I decided to carry out the demolition myself to reduce the loss.”
During the Corona virus lockdown, the occupation municipality halted demolition operations for a while, but did not halt issuing demolition orders, and forced many Jerusalemites to demolish their own houses. At the time people all around the world are recommended to stay home to avoid corona virus infection, Jerusalemites are being forced to demolish their own homes.
