For the sixth time, Israeli Occupation Forces demolish and confiscate structures in Tubas governorate

Violation: demolishing and confiscating structures

Location: Humsa al-Fauqa hamlet

Date:  February 22, 2021

Perpetrators: Planning and Construction Committee- Israel Civil Administration

Victims: residents of the community

Details:

The Israeli Authorities implement an eviction policy that aims at Judaizing Palestinian lands all over the West Bank. It is part of an agenda that serves the colonial expansionist plans and the minimization of the Palestinian presence and identity.

For the sixth time in a month, a force from the Israeli Occupation Army raided on February 22, 2021 Humsa al-Fauqa hamlet and carried out a demolition operation that targeted residential and agricultural structures some of which are donated by the EU in a step to shelter those who have gotten their residences demolished. Noteworthy, the demolition operation rendered several Palestinian families homeless.

It should be also indicated the Israeli Occupation Authorities have previously declared Humsa al-Fauqa hamlet a “closed military area”. This entails having the area evicted of residents and properties. Additionally, the area has been witnessing recurrent attacks and targeting with demolition and confiscation on the claim of “unlicensed construction”. Noteworthy, the area has a legal file compiled for licensing purposes. Not only, the lands on which the community is established have been proven to be a Palestinian owned land. The legal file was submitted to the Israeli related bodies but was later rejected, claiming the target area to be “military closed zone”. Ironically, the Israeli settlement of Ro’i is only 150 meters from the target area and is being continuously expanding on lands illegally confiscated from Palestinians.
