Location: Fasayil Al-Wousta village / Jericho Governorate.

Date: February 28th 2022.

Perpetrators: The building inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration.

Victims: Citizen Mahmoud Ar-Rashayda.

Description:

Monday, February 28th 2022, An army force accompanied by the building inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration raided Fasayil Al-Wousta north Jericho , the occupation’s civil bulldozer demolished an under construction house built of bricks and woods with a total area of 80 m2, the house belongs to citizen Mohammed Ar-Rashayda , who lives with a family of 9 members, among them two males and seven females, the family has 6 children.

Affected citizen told LRC:

“Monday , February 21st 2022 , I received a military order that includes demolition of a building on the pretext of assaulting antiquities , noting that the house is built in a highly populated area in Fasayil Al-Wousta , so I was shocked when I received a notice claiming that the house was built in an Antiquities area.”

Fasayil Al-Wousta area is heavily targeted by the occupation , during the past years to this date , the occupation destroyed a large number of houses and displaced many people , and most of the structures at the village are either notified or demolished.

Fasayil Al-Wousta area is inhabited by several Bedouin families such as : ‘Eiba, Abu Al-Kbash , Sawarka , Al-Ka’abneh , Ar-Rashayda . The Israeli Occupation on the other hand, turned most of these lands into state lands, and the occupation refuses to allow provision of basic humanitarian services to the people , in order to support their steadfastness.

Demolition of residences is a crime against Humanity:

Israeli Demolition policies are part of the Zionist colonial projects, which has clear objectives since 1967 , to empty the Palestinian lands from the indigenous Arab people , and replace them with Israeli colonists.

This policy violates articles of international and humanitarian law , and international conventions and agreements related to destruction of property without military necessity , and Palestinians’ right to appropriate housing , and their right to own a property. Not only that they violate rights of those who did not succeed to get a construction license, or those who carried out “security violations”  , but violated families rights , demolition of houses is a form of collective punishments.
