Colonists Destroy Agricultural Facility and Uproot Trees Near Deir Samet West of Hebron

Violation: Attack by colonists on agricultural land.

Date of Violation: 14/08/2024.

Location: Khilat Taha, west of Dura town, Hebron Governorate.

Perpetrator: Settlers from an outpost.

Victim: Farmer Ahmad Shrawna.

Description:

Farmer Ahmad Musa Jebril Shrawna (51 years old) from Deir Samet, southwest of Hebron, reported that colonists attacked his agricultural land, cut down the trees, demolished a shelter that was on the land, and caused significant damage.

Shrawna stated to the Land Research Center:

"I own a plot of land in Khilat Taha, east of Deir Samet, with an area of 6 dunams inherited from my father. About 5 years ago, I rehabilitated 3 dunams of it at my own expense, fenced it with barbed wire, and planted olive and almond trees. I also do inter-cropping between the trees by growing vegetables in the summer. I built an agricultural structure inside the rehabilitated area, a 20 square meter shelter made of brick walls and a tarpaulin roof, to rest while working there."

He added:

"At around 11:30 PM on Wednesday, 14/8/2024, I received a call from a relative living near my land, informing me that approximately five colonists, with a bulldozer and an agricultural vehicle, had invaded my land, shouting loudly, causing destruction, and then left heading towards the nearby colonial outpost."

Shrawna noted that the next morning (Thursday, 15/8/2024), when he visited his land to check the damage, he observed the following:

  1. Uprooting of 22 olive trees, 4 years old.
  2. Uprooting of 50 almond trees, 4 years old.
  3. Demolition of the 20 square meter shelter made of brick walls and a tarpaulin roof.
  4. Destruction of the gate leading to the land.
  5. Puncturing and damaging 3 plastic water tanks, each with a capacity of 2 cubic meters.
  6. Crushing and damaging about 300 vegetable seedlings (tomato and cauliflower).
  7. Cutting of barbed wire fences, 10 meters long.

Shrawna noted that he had not received any prior notices from the occupying authorities about demolishing the shelter on his land and that he possesses proof of ownership of the land. He also mentioned that the agricultural outpost in the area is about 1 km away from his land, and that the settlers living there had previously carried out an attack on his uncle's land in the area.
