Settlers Attack Agricultural Project and Water Well in Qrawat Bani Hassan / Salfit Governorate

  • Violation: Vandalism of metal corners and water well.
  • Location: Qrawat Bani Hassan Town / Salfit Governorate.
  • Date of Violation: 09/07/2024.
  • Perpetrator: Settlers.
  • Affected Party: Farmer Nayef Fathi ‘Asi.

Description:

A group of settlers, believed to be from the "Havat Ya’ir" settlement outpost, raided the area of Ras in Qrawa Bani Hassan and attacked a three-dunum agricultural plot that had recently been rehabilitated.

The settlers vandalized and damaged seventy metal corners that were part of the protective metal fence surrounding the plot. They also destroyed the opening of a rainwater collection well located within the plot.

The affected land belongs to farmer Nayef Fathi Asi (56 years old), who supports a family of seven, including three females and five children.

Farmer Asi reported to the Land Research Center researcher:

"I own agricultural land in the Ras area, and about a year ago, the land was rehabilitated with the help of the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committee, including building stone terraces around it. With the recent escalation in settler attacks, the settlers have damaged many land plots around my agricultural land. Today, they have vandalized the metal corners and attempted to destroy the well, but I will rehabilitate the land again. The 'Havat Ya’ir' outpost is located just 800 meters from my land."

It is noted that settlers have intensified their attacks in the Ras area due to its proximity to the "Havat Ya’ir" settlement outpost. They have attempted several times to damage crops and cut down olive trees in the area.
