Assault on Trees: Israeli Environmental Violations in Palestine:
Israeli occupation forces and settlers’ attacks on trees in Palestine is increasing, according to reports by field research team at Land Research Center, in 2024, the occupation targeted over 59,500 trees and seedlings, which is the highest number in the past 10 year, 90% of these trees were completely destroyed, indicating a real environmental catastrophe. Targeting trees, whether through cutting, burning, or poisoning, results in a decrease in the number of trees, which in turn reduces the vegetative cover that supplies the region with large quantities of oxygen and removes carbon dioxide. Additionally, targeting trees makes it difficult for animals to find shelter and food, which threats of the extinction of some species due to the destruction of their natural habitat, which harms biodiversity.
