Violation: Demolishing and confiscating residences.
Date: August 4th 2020.
Location: Al-Mintar – Bareyet As-Sawahra / Occupied Jerusalem.
Perpetrators: The Israeli Occupation Authorities.
Victims: Al-Mintar Badouin community.
Description:
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 4th 2020, the Israeli Occupation forces accompanied by a bulldozer and heavy machineries raided Al-Mintar Bedouin Community in As-Sawahra , and confiscated number of structures , The operation took two hours.

Al-Mintar Bedouin Community:[1]
Al-Mintar Bedouin community is located to the east of Jerusalem and has a total area of 36 dunums , in addition to 200 dunums planted with wheat and barley, most of the community’s residences are shacks , the community consists of 68 families (contain about 470 people) , residents of the community are originally from Beersheba and were forcedly displaced in the 1948 , they belong to 4 extended families: Al-Hathaleen , Al-Hamadi , Krushan and Sawahra , people of the community depend on Cattle breeding for living.
Borders of the community:
A Bedouin community located to the east of Jerusalem, and surrounded by ‘Arab Aj-Jahaleen Bedouin community (east), As-Sawahira Ash-Sharqiya (southwest) and Abu Nuwwar Bedouin community (North).
The community lacks basic services such as electricity, roads, and medical and educational services.
Israeli Demolition policies and international law:
Demolishing houses in occupied territories is a flagrant violation of international Conventions and agreements such as:
Article 147 of Geneva fourth convention: extensive destruction and appropriation of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly. ( it is considered a serious violation of the convention)
Article 53 of Geneva fourth convention that forbids destroying properties : Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or co-operative organizations, is prohibited, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations.
Article 33 of Geneva fourth convention: No protected person may be punished for an offence he or she has not personally committed.
Article 32 of Hague convention 1907 part g: To destroy or seize the enemy's property, unless such destruction or seizure be imperatively demanded by the necessities of war.
Article 17 of Universal declaration of human rights 10 –Dec- 1948: No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.
