Violation: Notices of demolition for residences.

Location: Deir Nitham village / Ramallah and Al-Bireh.

Date: January 13th 2022.

Perpetrators: The building inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration.

Victims: Bedouin families.

Description:

Thursday, January 13th 2022, the Occupation Army and the building inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration raided Al-Hassa area west Deir Nitham village in Ramallah and Al-Bireh , and gave halt of work notices to 3 residences, and demolition notices to other four , on the pretext of building without a license, noting that the occupation authorities never gives construction licenses in area C.

According to the notices , the subcommittee will conduct its session in January 19th 2022 to decide the  fate of the structures.

Community head Jibreel Najada told LRC:

“The Residents have been living at the community since 1972, and hold legal papers that prove they own the land of the community , in 2011 we witnessed a demolition for the whole community , which composes of 9 Bedouin families from An-Najada clan and originate back to Beer Seba’a area , from which they were forcedly displaced in 1948.”

In February 3rd 2022 , the occupation bulldozers demolished two residences from the community that used to be homes for 18 people , among them 3 children. Noteworthy, the owners filed the necessary papers for a license , but the occupation refused the application.

About Deir Nitham village:[1]

25 kilometers north west Ramallah, Deir Nitham village is surrounded by An-Nabi Salih and Bni Zeid Al-Gharbeyeh towns (north) , ‘Abud (west) , Kobar and Umm Safa (east) and Beitillu (south). It has a population of 876 people in 2017 census.

Deir Nitham has an area of 2,758 dunums , 161 of them are a built up area of the town, the Israeli illegal occupation confiscated parts of the towns’ lands for the following purposes:

“Hallamish” illegal settlement confiscated more than 604 dunums, established in 1977.

Bypass roads (450 and 465) confiscated over 250 dunums.

The land is divided according to Oslo convention to B and C areas:

  • Area B: 128 dunums.
  • Area C: 2,630 dunums.
