The Israeli occupation forces suppressed and intimidated hundreds of Palestinians from the afternoon of February 28, 2022 until the evening, in the Bab al-Amud (Damascus gate) area in Old Jerusalem, large forces of the police and all the border guards and security forces rushed to Bab al-Amud, accompanied by ammunition and various repressive tools, including a car that sprayed sewage to disperse the crowds in the place.  

The clashes between the Palestinians and the occupation forces resulted in many injuries and arrests among the Palestinians, affecting young people, children, women and the elderly. The forces used sound bombs, and sprayed crowds with waste water to disperse them from the place and to sabotage their joy in celebrating the anniversary of the Isra and Mi’raj.

It is noteworthy that thousands of Palestinian people flocked to Jerusalem to commemorate this religious memory, some of them came from the villages and cities of the occupied Palestinian north in 1948, and some of them came from the Negev, in addition to other Palestinian fates such as Hebron, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus and other places.

It is also worth noting that the occupation is trying to Judaize the Bab al-Amud area because it is the most popular place among the Palestinians and the place that brings them together. For decades, Bab al-Amud has been the place from which religious, national or cultural activities are launched, and the occupation has suppressed and obliterated these activities and the place where it is held because of its great symbolism for the Palestinians.
