“Halt of work” order on an agricultural road in Iraq Burin / Nablus governorate

Violation: “halt of work” on an agricultural road.

Date: October 15 – 2018.

Location: Iraq Burin / Nablus governorate.

Perpetrator: The Israeli occupation civil administration.

Victims: Farmers of the village.

Description:

The Israeli occupation forces served “Halt of Work” orders on an agricultural road “500 meters” in Iraq Burin south Nablus governorate, the agricultural road is one of Land Research Center projects to support farmers and serve 216 dunums of agricultural lands.

Head of Rural council in Iraq Burin “Maher Qa’adan” told LRC observer:

“In the morning hours of Wednesday, October 15- 2018, a vehicle from the Israeli occupation showed up in the location, ordered contractor Bassam Mleitat to halt the construction of an agricultural road and called me (as the head of the rural council), once I reached the location the officer of the so called civil administration told me that the used machinery will be confiscated for unlicensed work in area  (C ) and took a picture of me with the contractor Bassam Mleitat and the driver Ahmad Mleitat, I called the Palestinian cooperation who tried to contact with the civil administration, but the second party refused to listen and ordered us to leave the location”

About Iraq Burin:

Located 3 kilometers southwest of Nablus, Iraq Burin village is 5775 dunums in area with a built-up area of 464 dunums. 45% of the village land is area C according to Oslo Accords. (Source: Iraq Burin village council), Iraq burin has a population of 1008 people in 2017 census.

Qadus is the only family in the village and they are about 1000 people.

It should be marked that the village of Iraq Burin is not different from other Palestinian villages and cities in that it is a target for the Israeli colonialism. No less than 15% of the village land was confiscated for the establishment of Bracha that has been expanding day after day, since the eighties of the last century.
