The Civil Administration demolishes facilities and serves notices in Rantis village/ Ramallah governorate

Violation: Demolishing and threatening agricultural facilities.

Location: Rantis village / Ramallah governorate.

Date: 24th – 27th May 2020.

Perpetrators: The Israeli Occupation Civil Administration.

Victims: 4 families from the village.

Description:

In the early morning hours of Wednesday May 27th 2020, the Israeli occupation forces accompanied by a bulldozer demolished an agricultural facility and a vegetables kiosk in Rantis Village north Ramallah on the pretext of building without licenses.

 The targeted facility is located to the west of Rantis village; it is a room with a total area of 16 m2 , which was completely leveled to the ground in addition to a part of a barn ( 60 m2) , the targeted facilities belong to Dheyab Abu Saleem (33) who supports a family of 4 , 2 of them are children.

The Owner told LRC: “I received a halt of work notice in May 2019, and in May 13th 2020 , They gave me a notice of extending the objection period.”

On the main bypass road, the occupation forces demolished a Kiosk (40 m2) belong to Ashraf Dar Radi , who supports a family of 5 , 2 of them are children.

The Kiosk is used as a vegetables stand on the main road , the occupation troops made sure that all the vegetables are damaged before confiscating what remains from the Kiosk. Ashraf Dar Radi told LRC that he received a halt of work notice numbered 30624 in May 26 , under which the occupation set June 10th as the date of the subcommittee session in Beit El military court to decide the fate of the structures , but the occupation forces carried out the demolition only one day after serving the notice in May 27th , despite the fact that it is Ashraf’s only income source.

Halt of Work Notices:

In the same context, in Sunday May 24th 2020, the Israeli Occupation through the building and organization department - the Civil Administration served halt of work notices for agricultural rooms on the pretext of building without licenses.

According to the notices the occupation sets June 12th , as the date of the subcommittee session in Beit El military court to decide the fate of the structure.

Rantis:[1]

Rantis is located 25 km to the north west of Ramallah; it has a population of (3179) people in 2017 census, The village holds a number of archeological sites, the likes of Deir Ala, Barish, Deir Qulla, Al Ras, etc. Its total area is 10,780 dunums with a 647 of them are abuilt up area of the town.

Bypass 465 devoured 218 dunums.

Apartheid wall devoured 414 dunums and isolated 1,616 dunums

Rantis lands according to Oslo convention are classified as:

  • Area B (1,328) dunums.
  • Area C (9,452) dunums.
