Description:

Wednesday, July 14th 2021, the Israeli Occupation Forces sat up a metal siege around Nahal military camp that overviews Hammamat Al-Malih east Tubas city.

Mahdi Daraghma, village council head of Al-Malih and Bedouin Community told LRC the following:

“About three years ago, the occupation carried on rehabilitating and expanding Nahal Military camp through building new structures, and banning access to vast areas of postures, for communities of Hamamat Al-Malih , Al-Maita , Al-Berj , Umm Jammal, people of the community depend on cattle breeding as a main source of income.”

People of the community expressed their worries regarding expanding the military camp on postures at the area, which will have a devastating impact on their lives as herders.

the siege and the military camp

Nahal Military Camp was established early 70s of the last century, on lands the occupation claims are state properties, the military camp is a tragedy that stroke the Jordan Valley which was known of water springs and fertile lands

Human Rights Activist at the Jordan Valley ‘Aref Daraghma told LRC:

“The Occupation forces coming from this military camp destroy lands and the Palestinian environment , they also in coordination with the civil administration notified several families from Al Birj, Hamamat Al-Malih , Al-Maita , Umm Al-Jamal , ‘Ein Al-Hilweh with halt of work notices on the pretext of building without a license , but in reality the occupation is emptying the area for military trainings and  colonial expansion”.

Nahal is one of many Israeli military camps in the northern Jordan Valley, along with Mazoqa, Kobra, Sa’ura military camp have a devastating impact on lives of Bedouin communities from one hand, and the agricultural sector on another hand.
