Israeli Occupation Destroys Agricultural Greenhouses in Deir al-Ghusun / Tulkarem Governorate

  • Violation: Destruction of agricultural greenhouses under the pretext of lacking permits.
  • Location: Deir al-Ghusun village, north of Tulkarem city.
  • Date of Violation: 16/12/2024.
  • Perpetrator: So-called building inspector from the Israeli Civil Administration.
  • Affected Parties: Three families from the village.

This action is part of the ongoing demolition policy by the occupation authorities, putting the livelihoods and resilience of the affected families at risk.

Description:

On Monday morning, December 16, 2024, the Israeli occupation began demolishing agricultural greenhouses owned by several farmers in the village of Deir al-Ghusun. These greenhouses are located near the annexation and separation wall to the west of the village.

It is noteworthy that these greenhouses had been notified with a work and construction halt in July of this year. However, it appears that no legal file was properly opened for follow-up, which led to them being targeted by the occupation and completely destroyed.

Below are the names of the affected property owners and details about the facilities:

It is noteworthy that in the current year, 2024, the Israeli occupation has delivered a large number of military notices targeting a significant number of agricultural greenhouses in the towns of Attil and Deir al-Ghusun, north of Tulkarem Governorate. The latest of these notices was on (December 2, 2024), which included a stop-work and construction order for several greenhouses.

The targeted area, where these greenhouses are located, is a vital source of income for hundreds of farmers, serving as their primary and only source of livelihood. It is estimated that at least 200 dunams are planted with vegetables in these greenhouses in the region, the majority of which are now threatened by the stop-work and construction orders issued by the Israeli occupation. This situation signals an agricultural disaster and the potential loss of livelihoods for dozens of families.
