Settlers of Eli settlement pump sewage water towards the Nablus village of Qaryut

Violation: pumping sewage water towards Qaryut  village.

Location: Qaryut village / south Nablus.

Date: 21/05/2019.

Perpetrators: Settlers of “Eli”.

Victims: People of the village.

Description:

Settlers of “Hyufal” outpost opened sewage water towards agricultural lands in Ar-Rahwat location west Qaryut  , which damaged 5 dunums of olive groves, as colonization watch activist Bashar Al-Qaryuti told LRC reporter.

Al-Qaryuti asserted:

“We filed a complaint with the aid of “Yaish Den” institution against settlers’ assaults on our lands. But settlers do not worry about such complaints because they are protected and supported by the occupation government and army . Settlers of Eli target Qaryut villagers with frequent assaults and attacks , they also prohibited villagers of Qaryut from opening an agricultural road in B area.”

The sewage water left the following damages:

  • Polluting 3 dunums belong to farmer Mohammad Kassab, 40 olive trees were partially damaged.
  • Polluting 2 dunums belong to Mahmoud Zaki , and 30 olive trees were partially damages.

About Qaryut: [1]

Qaryut is 20 km south of Nablus and 28 km away from Ramallah. It is one of the villages that are totally surrounded by colonies and outposts. The village populates 2321people on a total land area of 8471 dunums, of which 312dunums are the village's built-up area. Qaryut has a total population of 2,560 people until 2017 census.

The Israeli occupation 1332 dunums from Qaryut village for the favor of the following colonies:

Shilo colony: it was built in 1978 on 799 confiscated dunums from Silon lands. Now, the colony has a total built-up area of 1347.

Eli colony: it was built in 1984 on 553 confiscated dunums. Now, the colony has a total built-up area of 3360 dunums.
