IOF ravage lands in Fureidis – Bethlehem governorate

Violation: Ravaging lands.

Location: Fureidis / Jannatah – Bethlehem governorate.

Perpetrators: The Israeli occupation forces.

Victims: People of Za’atara , Fureidis and Jannatah.

Description:

Wednesday, September 18th 2019, the Israeli occupation forces started ravaging 1 dunums plot , in order to build a retaining wall around an archeological site in the area , under claims of protecting it.

Mr.Nasri from Milad office in Jannatah told LRC:

“Israeli settlers and forces were recently very active in Fureidis area, their intention is to take over wide areas of lands to expand their settlement.

The archeological site they pretend to protect is located close to Za’atra village entrance and close to an Israeli military camp, some of the plots are owned by people from Za’tara village and others from Jannatah.”

LRC field worker talked to some of the workers at the location  : “We work on an electricity network in the area , in case you wanted more information you need to go to the project director , on the top of Fureidis mountain.”

Noteworthy, the occupation forces and settlers are imposing great difficulties on people of the village. Under security claims, they closed windows that overview the military camp, and blocked air and light from entering citizens’ houses. The occupation forces are very active in the area , and the Israeli former defense minister Lieberman live in the nearby settlement “El david” , which makes the occupation forces always standby.
