Violation : Halt of work and construction notice.
Location: Khirbet Umm Al-Marajem / Nablus governorate.
Date: September 5th 2017.
Perpetrator: The Israeli Occupation Civil Administration.
Victims: citizen Nassim Musallam.
Description:
Tuesday, September 5th 2017 about 10:00 am , the occupation forces raided a house that belongs to Naseem Musalam and gave him a halt of work and constriction notice on his house in Khirbet Umm Al-Marajem nearby to Duma.
The owner Naseem Musalam (56) told LRC:
“I was shocked when a massive army force raided my house in Khirbet Umm Al-Marajem and give me a halt of work notice on my 160 m2 house, the house is built of bricks and zinc.”
The house is built on a plot he owns in Umm Al-Marajem with a total area of 5,439 m2 planted with wheat.
Musallam said that he contacted Duma’s village council once he received the notice. (Umm al-Marajem is administratively a part of Dums), and the village council guided him to prepare a legal file and make a petition.
The case was adopted be the Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center , and it is still on hold in Israeli courts.
Khirbet Umm Al-Marajem:
4 km to the east of Duma , Khirbet Umm Al-Marajem lies between two mountains and related to Talfit lands south Nablus , but administratively the khirbet is a part of Duma. According to the village council, the khirbet has a total area of 13,000 dunums , with a population of less than 60 people who depend mainly on agriculture and cattle breeding for living.
Khirbet Umm Al-Marajem is one of the Bedouin Khirbets in the southern suburbs of Nablus, it is also a hot spot for the Israeli Occupation.
Duma village:
Duma is a Palestinian village in Nablus Governorate, located southeast of Nablus City. It is bordered by Al Jiftlik and Fasayil (in Jericho Governorate) to the east, Majdal Bani Fadil to the north, Qusra and Jalud to the west, and Al Mughayyir (in Ramallah Governorate) to the south.
