Israeli machineries ravage vast areas of lands in Jourish / Nablus governorate


Violation: Ravaging lands.

Location : Jourish village / Nablus governorate.

Date: March 1st 2020.

Perpetrator: The Israeli Occupation Forces.

Victims: People of the two villages.

Description:

Sunday morning March 2020 , eyewitnesses said that Israeli machineries carried out ravaging work in An-Nejma mount 1.5 km north Qusra and Jourish , southeast Nablus under the protection of the occupation army.

Mohammed Jaber , Qusra village council head told LRC:

“tens of people from the village marched to the ravaging  site protesting against ravaging farmers’ lands for the sake of colonial projects  , the occupation forces threw tear gas and clashes erupted between people of the village and the occupation forces , and several injuries among the Palestinians were reported.”

Despite what happened, the occupation forces continued the ravaging the next day, and clashes erupted again , the fanatic troops had beaten several protestors , among the reported names: Mahmoud Oudeh (43) and Thaer Hassan (45) , both of them are from Qusra village.”

One of the victim , Thaer Hassan told LRC :

“I was trying to stop the bulldozers from ravaging my land but the occupation forces assaulted me and caused me several fractures.”

According to Ahmad Mustafa from Al-Qusra municipality  , the occupation’s machineries leveled 26 dunums, some of the farmers affected in the ravages :

About Jourish:[1]

The village is founded to the southeast of Nablus and 27 km away from it. It has a total built-up area of 320 dunums. As for the surrounding villages, there are Aqraba, Qablan, Majdal Bani Fadil, and Qusra. The area is famous for grains, fruits, and olive plantation.

The total area of the village including Kfra Atia village, located east of it, is 8200 dunums and according to the Palestinian central bureau of statistics,  populates around 1514 people who depend on a water spring founded in the place to supply their needs.
