Israeli Settlers attack Palestinian farmers in As-Sawiya / Nablus governorate

Violation : Israeli illegal Settlers attack farmers.

Location: As-Sawiya village / Nablus governorate.

Date : January 25th 2020.

Perpetrators: “Rahalim” settlers’ assaults.

Victims: Abdul Jawad Khalil and his son Nizar.

Description:

Saturday January 25th 2020, tens of settlers from “Rahalim” settlement attacked farmers Abdul Jawad Khalil (62) and his son Nizar (30 years), while they were working in their lands in Harayeq Rayyan location northwest As-Sawiya.

As-Sawiya village council head “Murad Abu Ras” told LRC:

“Tens of settlers from Rehalim settlement attacked farmers Abdul Jawad and his son with sticks and stones , they were injured and carried to Rafidia surgical hospital in Nablus .”

Victim Nizar Abdul Jawad said: “More than 30 settlers attacked us suddenly , screaming indecent and racist words , then they started throwing stones on us and beating us with sticks , my father passed out as a result of beating , when they saw him on the ground they thought he was dead and ran towards “Rehalim” settlement 500 m away from our plot, an hour later an ambulance came to the location and carried us to the hospital.”

20 km south Nablus city , As-Sawiya is surrounded by Yatma and Yasouf (north) , Al-Lubban Ash-Sharqi (west) , Talfit and Qablan (east) and Al-Lubban Ash-Sharqi and “Eli” Israeli illegal settlement (south).

As-Sawiya has a population of (2761) people according to 2017 census.

As-Sawiya has a total area of 10,733 dunums , of which 310 dunums are a built up area for the village.

The Israeli occupation confiscate (2662) dunums of its lands for the following purposes:

B area: (1459) dunums.

C area : (9274) dunums.

About Rahalim:

The colony started in 1999 as a confiscated land for the favor of building a military base in Yatma. In 2002, the Israeli occupation allowed colonists to install 19 caravans in the area.

Today, and after 20 years, Rahalim colony became one of the most confiscating colonies where it took over 450 dunums from the villages of Iskaka, Yasuf and Yatma( Geographical Information System –LRC). In addition, the occupation has been planning on establishing new outposts to found the so-called grater Rahalim.
