Demolishing and Confiscating Tents in Wadi Al-Ahmar area / Jericho Governorate
Violation: Demolishing and Confiscating Residential and Agricultural Facilities.
Location: Wadi Al-Ahmar area / Jericho Governorate.
Date: January 27th 2021.
Perpetrators: The Israeli Occupation Civil Administration.
Victims: Two families from Wadi Al-Ahmar.
Description:
The Israeli Occupation Forces accompanied by the construction inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration raided Ar-Ras Al-Ahmar area north Al-Fasayil village, using a dozer and a truck the occupation forces demolished and confiscated eight residential and agricultural tents built of metal bodies and plastic sheets , in addition to feeding troughs , on the pretext that the area is a “Military trainings area” classified as an Israeli state properties.

During Summer of 2020, Abu ‘Arouj family witnessed a mass demolition operation, for more information , read our report about the violation (Arabic, English).
Affected Citizen Ibrahim Abu ‘Arouj (51) told LRC :
“We have been living in Wad Al-Ahmar for more than 20 years , cattle breeding is our only source of income , during summer we spend our time in ‘Aqraba plains and Lafjam area , and during winter we stay at Wad Al-Ahmar north Al-Fasayil.”
Abu ‘Arouj asserted: “For more than four years, the Occupation Forces have been harassing us on a daily basis , only 60 m away from our tents the occupation established a military base , illegal colonists are always walking around the place and harassing Bedouin families at the area . Last August, the Occupation demolished and confiscated residential and agricultural tents belong to four Bedouin families. Following the violation, Action aid provided tents for the affected families, but the occupation forces soon came back and confiscated the donated tents and left our kids in the cold , noting that we are at the breeding season, which is an important time for herders.”
Noteworthy , Wad Al-Ahmar expands on hundreds dunums of postures that the occupation declared as “state Properties” , and built Yafit Illegal colony on its lands , in addition to a car racing track for illegal colonists , while about 12 families residing the area have been living in horrible conditions deprived from most essential and basic rights.
