Description:

Monday morning, April 5th 2021, The so-called building inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration raided Khallet Allan area south Aj-Jiftlik, and targeted two residences and agricultural facilities with halt of work notices, on the pretext of building without a license.

The targeted facilities belong to three Bedouin families, and the notices sat may 5th 2021 as the date of the subcommittee session in Beit El military court to decide the fate of the structures.

Affected Citizen ‘Omar Id’ais (61) told LRC:

“We’ve been living in Khallet ‘Allan since four years, and we used to live in Al-Makhrouj and Khirbet Abu Al-‘Ajaj east Aj-Jiftlik, and the occupation targeted our houses at that area twice in a raw, so we moved to the south of Aj-Jiftlik on common lands, and we though that this way the occupation will leave us alone, because the area is very far and there are no colonies or military watch points around.”

On the ground, Aj-Jiftlik is heavily targeted by the Israeli Occupation for many years, during which the occupation forces have demolished many residences and barns, and turned live at the village into a nightmare as a large number of the facilities are threatened of demolition.

Al-Jiftlik village is located 35 km north of Jericho, and its population is 3100 people according to the 2017 census. Its total area is 185031 dunums, of which 1110 dunums are built up area. The occupation confiscated an area of 12040 dunums from its lands, as follows:

  • 3207 dunums were confiscated for building Israeli settlements in the area, including the settlement of Maswa.
  • 3328 dunums were confiscated for the purpose of building settlement roads bearing the numbers 90, 505 and 508.
