Wednesday, March 24th 2021, the Occupation bulldozers demolished a house in Jabl Al-Mukabir neighborhood, on the pretext of building without a license. The targeted house belongs to citizen Khalid Al-‘Abassi and he lives at it with his family (7 members, 4 of them are children).
Citizen Al-‘Abassi told LRC:
“Wednesday morning, the Occupation police accompanied by a bulldozer raided the area, closed off the roads to the house, and carried out the demolition. Noteworthy, the house was already emptied since the occupation authorities sent a demolition notice, and set March 11th as a final date for the demolition.”
Al-‘Abassi asserted:
“The targeted house was built in 2016, and it composes of two bedrooms, a kitchen, Bathroom, and a living room with a total area of 75 m2, the Occupation’s municipality issued halt-of-work notice once the building was completed, where they filed an indictment and imposed a high fine (about 70,000 Shekels).
We later tried to get a license from the municipality, but all our attempts had failed especially that the municipality has impossible conditions, and requests expensive costs for the licensing procedures, today we moved to another house to live at temporarily until we find a new home.”
