The Jerusalemite, Faisal Al-Jabari, self-demolished his house on the afternoon of January 18 (18.1.2022), after the threat and the immediate demolition order was issued by the occupation municipality on the pretext of building without a license. The owner carried out the demolition using light demolition tools, noting that the place could not accommodate a bulldozer, according to what Mr. Faisal Al-Jabari said.
The municipality only gave the family about two months after the owner submitted the case to the court, but the response was to issue immediate demolition orders, which must be implemented by the owner, otherwise he is required to pay heavy fines in the event that the municipality’s staff carry out the demolition.
The family of the Jabari consists of eight members, including 4 females. The house contains the family of the father and the family of his son. It is reported that the family has been dispersed and is trying hard to find a place to shelter them, and in addition to the dispersal and financial losses incurred by the family, the family, especially females, suffer from a psychological trauma following the demolition, and from fear from the unknown. “My son's son is sitting in the cold” Al-Jabari expressed and also he blamed what happened and the fate of the family on the occupation authorities, and its courts.
It is noteworthy that the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood is located to the northeast of the city of Jerusalem, and this neighborhood, like other Jerusalem areas, is exposed to the process of Judaization and displacement, in addition to the occupation projects that are intended to start in the near future, such as Silicon Valley, and others. From the land of the neighborhood and its features change day by day.
